Workforce & Career Services creates hope and prepares people of all ages for more competitive jobs. Our customers want to identify more promising career paths that fit their skills and interests. We serve youth, veterans, migrants and seasonal farmworkers, low-income individuals, people experiencing homelessness, and other special populations.
NOTICE OF INTENT TO APPLY
Telamon/TRC hereby gives notice of its intent to re-apply for CSBG funding from the North Carolina Office of Economic Opportunity for program year 2021-2022. This funding will allow Project PRIDE to continue to provide support to low-income residents in North Carolina counties of Caswell, Person and Rockingham who are 200% of the Federal Poverty Level or below. Telamon will hold a virtual public information session for residents, employers, and community agencies within these three counties. During the virtual information session, Project PRIDE staff will provide information about the proposed CSBG application, available funding, and planned services, as well as, provide the community an opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions. Information on how to join the virtual session via phone or computer is listed below. Community agency representatives, elected officials, and the public are encouraged to attend. NATIONAL FARMWORKER JOBS
PROGRAM
Become self-sufficient during lean times.
In partnership with the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP), Telamon provides services that educate, train, or prepare eligible farmworkers for other jobs. Our trained staff members work one on one with you to develop a plan to meet your needs and help you achieve your goals. The programs can help you identify career paths and assess your skills and interests.
Services include:
- Career counseling
- Job and classroom training
- Customized training programs
- Remedial education and GED preparation
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
- Skill upgrades and occupational credentialing
- Job placement
You can also turn to Telamon for help finding work through on-the-job training, local market information, and job placements. Bilingual services are available in many of our offices.
The U.S. Department of Labor funds this program.
How to sign up for NFJP services.
Wondering if you are eligible for NFJP services? You may be if any of these apply to you.
- Are you authorized by the Attorney General to work in the United States, and an eligible farmworker or a dependent of an eligible farmworker?
- Have you, your spouse, or a family member done any of the following in the past 24 months:
- Worked in packing, picking, processing, or grading fruits or vegetables, or worked in an orchard or vineyard?
- Worked at a fish, poultry, cattle, horse, deer, or pig farm?
- Worked on preparing soil, planting, harvesting, transplanting, trimming, or hoeing with plants, orchards, or trees?
- Are you authorized to work in the United States?
- Are you enrolled in Selective Service, if applicable?
If you answered “yes” to some of these questions, you may qualify for our services. There are many related jobs that may qualify as agricultural work.
Contact Telamon and a staff member will personally pre-screen you to find out if you or your family member could qualify for our program.

NCWORKS NEXTGEN
Build skills that lead to success as adults.
If you’re a youth between ages 16 and 24, Telamon can help you build skills that lead to success as adults. NCWorks NextGen offers you the resources and personal support to make good career and life decisions.
NCWorks NextGen emphasizes:
- Dropout prevention and completion of high school or its equivalent
- Development of leadership skills and positive behaviors
- Preparation for the world of work
You receive an individualized plan that reflects your unique goals and needs. You get support through counseling, adult mentors, educational tutoring, group activities, work experience, and occupational skill training.
NextGen is available in Columbus and Pender counties. The program is funded under the U.S. Department of Labor’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and made possible through awards from the Cape Fear Workforce Development Board.

PROJECT PRIDE
Improve your education and job skills and get a job or transition to better employment.
Project PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in Daily Endeavors) offers education, training, job placement and support that improves employment opportunities for low income adults. Services include:
- Vocational assessment and career exploration
- Work skills training (e.g., resume preparation; interview skills)
- Occupational skills training
- Job placement assistance
- Financial counseling
- Support services
- Referrals
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Economic Opportunity funds this program.


PROJECT IMPACT
Expose children of tobacco farmworkers to enriching summer activities.
Project IMPACT (Improving Achievement for Children in Tobacco) is an eight-week summer program for youth ages 10 to 17. The program features a full day of hands-on and project-based learning, creative arts and healthy living activities, leadership development, and career exploration in Sampson County, NC. Monetary incentives for attendance, participation, and appropriate behavior are earned by participants.
Philip Morris International and Altria fund this program. Sampson County Schools and Sampson Community College are our education partners.
