Tracey: "Thank you for being there in my darkest days."
"My self esteem...it was low. I felt like this was it. Because really, nobody in my family was trying to pursue much of anything in life. I was 18 or 19...I wanted a change. I knew that I didn't want to be working on the farm all of my life. Because I really didn't feel like I had family support...I felt like I was going to be right here on this farm for the rest of my life."
When Tracey first started working with Kathy from Telamon, she was severely depressed.
Working with Kathy helped turn her life around.
Kathy's encouragement and hands-on support motivated Tracey to enroll in classes, to apply for and obtain gainful employment outside of farmwork.
When Tracey said, "I can't do this." Kathy said, "Yes, you can - you are - and you will." She just needed someone to give her that extra motivation and that push. It was an amazing story to see."
Tracey found a new career path in Telamon's National Farmworker Jobs Program. Today, she helps oversee the family of Telamon job training programs. She is part of the team that empowers people and improves communities every day.Tracey has enormous gratitude these days.
"I have learned that Telamon is a company that will help individuals who want to help themselves. If it wasn't for Kathy, seeing the potential in me that I could not see in myself, I wouldn't be where I am today. Thank you for being there in my darkest days, when I didn't see a way out. You were there, and pulled things out of me that I didn't know that I had for myself."
