    JAG Indiana

Jobs for America’s Graduates, or JAG, is a school to career program dedicated to preventing dropouts among young people who are most at-risk. Nationwide JAG delivers consistent, compelling results – helping nearly three-quarters of a million young people stay in school through graduation, pursue postsecondary education and secure quality entry-level jobs leading to career advancement opportunities.

Transition Resources produces similar results with 90% of the students served in our Indianapolis JAG program graduating from high school. Our students of promise from Northwest High School, Decatur Central High School and the Decatur Enrichment Center go to colleges and universities throughout the country and across Indiana. They also begin promising careers as contributing members of Indiana’s workforce.

    The JAG opportunity provides:

    • Classroom instruction in employability skills
    • Career planning
    • Leadership development activities
    • Guest speakers and field trips
    • College and company tours
    • Job shadowing
    • Mentorships
    • Internship and work experience
    • Summer employment opportunities
    • Service learning
    • Supportive services

Our youth program target groups are defined by funding source and grant requirements. The JAG program is funded primarily by the U.S. Department of Labor through the Workforce Investment Act. Juniors and seniors at schools offering the JAG program are eligible to participate if they are:

    • Citizens of the United States, or non-citizens authorized by the Immigration and Naturalization Service
    • In compliance with the Selective Service Act (males only)
    • Identified as low-income
    • Possess one or more barriers to educational or career success.

For a complete listing of eligibility requirements, please contact the local office in your area.
