Early Head Start (EHS) provides childcare to low-income pregnant women and families with children from birth through age 3 years, most of who are at or below the federal poverty level or who are eligible for Part C services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act in their state.
The program model focuses on providing high quality, flexible, and culturally competent child development and parent support services with an emphasis on the role of the parent as the child’s first and most important relationship.
It is a comprehensive full day, full year program that includes quality early education in and out of the home, parenting education, health and mental health services, including services to women before during and after pregnancy, nutrition education and family support services.
The nutrition services provided by each Telamon Head Start program are supported by the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
