Telamon Corporation to Hold Early Head Start Center Groundbreaking Ceremony in Elizabethton, TN
April 25, 2016
Telamon Corporation, a provider of early childhood education in Tennessee for almost 20 years, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new Early Head Start Center. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on April 28, 2016 at 12:00PM at 139 Judge Don Lewis Blvd, Elizabethton, TN 37463. The ceremony is open to the public. The construction of the center will be completed by Kem Richardson, General Contractor/Owner of Richardson Builders. Angie Odom, Founder/Director of the TLC Community Center & Abortion Alternatives & Women’s Center, will be providing space for the groundbreaking ceremony. Sponsors for the event include Food City, Lowes, and Fresh Market.
Telamon is currently accepting applications for enrollment in this program, which is for lowincome families with infants and toddlers ages six weeks to three years. The new Early Head Start program is open to all low-income families in Carter and Washington Counties. Free services are currently provided at our temporary location at the East River Park Christian Church located at 1207 Broad Street in Elizabethton. Telamon’s Early Head Start program consists of free childcare offered Monday through Friday, 8 am to 2 pm. Children are engaged in individualized developmentally appropriate activities to promote a love of learning.
Telamon received a grant from the Office of Head Start in 2015 to provide services to 32 infants and toddlers at the Carter County Early Head Start site. The program provides services in the community in addition to Carter County Head Start. Telamon believes parents are the primary educators of their children. The program encourages parents to be actively engaged in their child’s education both at the center and at home.
