About Telamon Corporation

Telamon Corporation is a private, non-profit organization created in 1965 by a group called the “Migrant Project” of the North Carolina Council of Churches in order to provide services to farm workers who came into the state to harvest crops.  From this small beginning, funded by a grant from the Office of Economic Opportunity, the organization has expanded to provide early childhood, employment & training, and housing services to people in need in 12 states ranging from Michigan to Florida.

The Governing Board of Telamon is made up of 26 people, with representatives from each of the states we provide services in.  These individuals include volunteer professionals, Head Start parents, farm workers and community representatives.  The vision of the Board and the Telamon Staff is best summarized by our mission statement:

“We are committed advocates for people in need. Our Mission is to promote the development of human potential by providing resources and opportunities in the communities we serve.”

With the above philosophy as a base we look forward to continuing to serve the people of Sampson County.
